Stephanie A. (Perez) Peters, Kepayos, 44, of Keshena, unexpectedly started her journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Stephanie was born on April 14, 1969, in Chicago to Myrna Peters and Marshall Warrington. She attended Menominee schools and graduated from Menominee Indian High School in 1988. She attended the College of Menominee Nation and was a certified health aide. Stephanie has been taking care of her eldest son, Scott, for the past year. She was employed at Menominee Casino Bingo for 18½ years. She had also worked at the Menominee Tribal Jail and the domestic violence shelter. She was a member of St. Anthony’s church in Neopit.
Stephanie loved spending time with her granddaughter, Jocelle. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. She was loving and devoted to her children, and a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She had a wicked sense of humor and was always willing to help others out. Her home was always open to anyone in need.
Stephanie is survived by two daughters Andrea and Shae, of Keshena; three sons, Scott, Gene and Seth, of Keshena; one granddaughter, Jocelle; a special son, Freeman Peters, and the father of her children, Scott Perez; her mother, Myrna (Marshall) Warrington, of Keshena; three sisters, Patricia “Cholly” (Big Boy) Frechette, Rosemary Warrington, Kristah Warrington, all of Keshena; and maternal grandmother, Elaine Peters, of Keshena.
Stephanie is further survived by her special cousins, Cheryl and Jason Jones; her godmother, Auntie Twila (Gary), and Auntie Tracy (Bill); and special uncles, Poosa and Steven; great-aunt, Mary Fish; nieces, Shanice and Keanna; and nephews, Darius, Shane and Maec-Kenew.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, John and Rose Fish, and aunt, Marilyn Warrington.
A funeral Mass for Stephanie A. (Perez) Peters will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. The Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Neopit Community Center in Neopit after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 6, until the hour of Mass on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in the name of Stephanie Peters to assist with her children’s well-being.
