Marie Novelli, 86, of Shawano, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on Dec. 8, 1927, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Salvadore “Sam” and Mary (Balsano) Nuccio.
Marie was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Chicago. On Oct. 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Elmo Novelli in Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2007. Marie enjoyed visiting with people and loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She also liked listening to music, flower gardening, crafting and taking photos. Marie was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena.
Marie is survived by three sisters, Dolores (John) Rotter, of Shawano, Veronica (William) Petrus, of Chicago, and Roseann Eckman, of Chicago; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Nuccio, of Harwood Heights, Ill., Christine Rischard, of Wauwatosa, and Lee Petrtyl, of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; her parents; and a brother, Sam.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Keshena in the spring. Visitation will be held at the the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
