The Student Services Department of Oconto Falls High School will sponsor a financial aid meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the Performing Arts Center of the school.
Attendees will learn about aid and scholarships for students planning to attend a college or technical school after graduation. Juniors and seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend.
Nicole Martinez, director of financial aid from Great Lakes Higher Education, will present information regarding financial aid for any institution of higher learning, the type of financial aid available and how to apply.
The free application for federal student aid can be completed over the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Families are encouraged to make copies of their form and check these forms carefully for accuracy.
Financial aid is often given to qualified individuals on a first-come, first-served basis. If unusual circumstances occur concerning family or student income, families are encouraged to call the college financial aid office where the student plans to attend to discuss these circumstances.
Seniors should apply now to the colleges they plan to attend; they cannot apply for financial aid until they have been accepted at a postsecondary institution. Colleges will soon be notifying the high school of enrollment or program closing.
For more information, call the counseling office at Oconto Falls High School, 920-848-4467, ext. 2.
