Alva ‘Jean’ Krause

Alva “Jean” Krause, 83, Oconto Falls, died Sunday evening, Dec. 15, 2013, at Sharpe Care. She was born May 22, 1930, in Milwaukee to Merton and Hattie (Simon) Lusha. Jean grew up in Milwaukee, where she attended both Lutheran elementary and high schools, graduating with the Class of 1948. On July 3, 1948, she married Kenneth Krause in Milwaukee. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Oconto Falls, where they have lived ever since. Jean was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was once active in the church choir as well as the women of the church activities, especially with quilting and sewing. She also did seamstress work out of her home, worked at the local election board and volunteered at fraternal insurance events. She is survived by her loving husband, Ken Krause, Oconto Falls; their four children, Marsha (Edward) Loesch, Henderson, Nev., Ray (Suzi) Krause, Oconto Falls, Lori (Reggie) Comins, Lena, and Ron Krause, Oconto Falls; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Beverly Bolling, Sussex; four sisters-in-law, Sally Vanden Bush, St. Germaine, Arlene (Art) Jaeger, Green Bay, Betty Hudson, Morgan, and Deloris Van Laar Hoven, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers-in-law, Joe VandenBush, Jake Van Laar Hoven, Emil Jaeger, Gary Hudson and Bill Bolling. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Doreen Jeffers officiating. Cremation will follow, with burial of the urn in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls. The Krause family would like to thank the entire staff of Sharpe Care Ltd. for the care and concern shown Jean during their time together.
