Hobert A. “Hobie” Lubas, 78, Brookside, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at home from cancer. He was born March 5, 1935, in Oconto to the late Albert and Oneda (Gering) Lubas.
Hobert married Carol Baranczyk on June 7, 1961. He was an area logger, sawyer and farmer. He served in the United States Army and was the Machickanee American Legion Post commander for one term. He also belonged to the Oconto Falls DAV and the Abrams Sportsman’s Club.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol; one son, Al Lubas, and grandson, David, Green Bay; three daughters, Ann (Doug) Williams, grandchildren, Arwen and Tecwyn, California; Barbara (Mike) Piechura, Maryland, grandson, Randy (Hannah) Piechura and granddaughter, Amy (Arthur) Sudduth, and great-grandchildren Arthur and Andrew, Virginia; Christine (Bill) Lambert, Ohio.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:30-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Pensaukee Town Hall. Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, with Pastors Darlene and Tom Athey from Stewards of Grace Ministries Church, Brussels, officiating.
