Four students represented the Oconto Falls High School choirs in the Wisconsin Choral Director’s Association All-State Choir in January.
They were Hannah Knutson, daughter of Craig and Janice Knutson; Stephanie Gortarez, daughter of Bob and Liz Muzquiz; Garret Gubbels, son of Paul and Sue Gubbels; and Nick Borisch, son of David and Kathy Borisch.
They were selected for their outstanding musicianship and character by their choral director, Amy Thiel.
The Men’s High School All-State Choir, directed by Robert Sinclair, director of choral activities at VanderCook College of Music, performed “El Yivneh Hagalil,” “Baba Yetu,” “Two Folk Songs,” “Blow Ye the Trumpet,” and “Loch Lomond.”
The Women’s High School All-State Choir performed “Ad Amore,” “Laudate Pueri Dominum,” “Nada te turbe,” “Bumble Bee,” and “Sisters.” The women’s director was Mary Hopper, professor of choral music and director of performance studies at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.
The performances were held at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee as part of the WCDA convention.
