Emily Ann Smet, 3, of Lee Lake, died suddenly Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2014, at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born Jan. 3, 2011, in Oconto Falls to William D. and Katie (Christensen) Smet.
Emily will be lovingly remembered as a happy little girl who liked to be held and cuddled and to go fast and have “bumpy rides.” She just recently started attending early childhood at Oconto Falls Elementary School and enjoyed her time at the CP Center in Green Bay.
Survivors are her parents, Bill and Katie Smet, Lee Lake; her 8-year-old brother, Peter; three half-brothers and one half-sister, Steve Koski, William E. Smet, Briann and Devin Lakonen-Smet; maternal grandparents, Edward and Linda Christensen, Lee Lake; her godparents, Ryan Cherney and Nicole Renier; very special friends, Karen and Cal Kadlec; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ernie and Bonnie Smet; an aunt, Kelly Christensen; and her paternal and maternal great-grandparents.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Cremation will follow, with burial of the urn in Hickory Cemetery, town of Maple Valley.
