Sheila Marie Jarsonbeck, 75, of Riverview, Fla., died Feb. 7, 2014, of a heart attack, “thus ending 52 years of the most beautiful, warm friendship,” said her husband, Carl Jarsonbeck.
Sheila was born the oldest of an extended family in Abrams, where she helped her father on their dairy and horse farm. Sheila always wanted to be in education and worked summer jobs to pursue this ambition.
She attended Oconto Falls High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. Sheila attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education, and Northern Illinois University, obtaining a master’s degree, and University of Southern Florida, earning a doctorate degree, all in education.
Sheila started as a teacher in Palm River Elementary School in 1972. In 1974 she transferred to Riverview Elementary as a curriculum specialist and then became principal of Riverview Elementary from 1986 until retirement in 2001.
Surviving Sheila are her husband, Carl; son, Lane Jarsonbeck, New York; two grandsons, Jason and Josh, Tampa, Fla.; and her dear great-granddaughter, Lily.
Sheila traveled as often as she could for class reunions and loved to visit her family of six sisters, Sherry (David) Pirlott, Leslie Van Hulle, Green Bay, Linda Powell, Gulf Breeze, Fla., Holly (Lyn) Strictland, Owen, Lana (Terry) Porter, Algoma, and Heather (Tom) Shannon, San Marcos, Calif., and two brothers, Bryan (Diane) Clapper, Montello, and Barry (Linda) Clapper, Bouse, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ivadene Combs; father, Leslie Clapper; one brother, Chris Clapper; and one sister, Maureen Barnhart.
As per her wishes, she was cremated and her ashes scattered in Serenity Meadows of Riverview. Her name, birth and death date will be etched in stone.
