To the editor:
If you hunted in or around the Township of Seneca this last year, you certainly were aware of the gross overestimation of our deer herd by the experts in the Shawano office of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. I have also heard other townships had the same result.
Hope you enjoy tag soup because all the does you killed this year will assure we have far less next year to hunt. When you see more coyote, wolf, turkey and small game tracks in the snow than deer, you would think the brain surgeons who set the slaughter seasons would pay more attention, but I guess not.
Arrogance and refusal to heed advice from people like Dr. Deer who have a proven management record are to blame.
Frozen deer being registered at the Gresham registration site on opening morning, and where were the wardens?
Had enough already? Write the big game manager at Shawano Ranger Station, 647 Lakeland Road, Shawano, WI 54166.
