Joan R. Maryniak

Joan R. Maryniak (nee Trenhaile), 78, of Gresham, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Marshfield. Born on Dec. 17, 1935, in Bensenville, Ill., she was the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Guilford) Trenhaile. On July 17, 1954, Joan was united in marriage to Edward Maryniak. The couple ran an archery store in the Chicago area and moved to the Shawano area in 1975. Ed preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1990. Joan married Chester Koop, who also preceded her in death. She was a leader for Weight Watchers, founder of the GOAL Cancer Support Group and proud member of the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and meet new people. Her eternally optimistic outlook will be deeply missed. Joan is survived by her sons, Lyle (Julie) Maryniak, Dan (Kris) Maryniak; sister, Dori (Dave) Albert; half-sister, Diane Rambo; brother-in-law, Marvin (Genevieve) Bailey; grandsons, Nick (Barb Meier) Maryniak, Alan Maryniak and James Maryniak; stepson, Cole (Christine) Koop; and countless nieces, nephews, friends and many young people who knew her as Gramma Joan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Maryniak; second husband, Chester Koop; brothers, Lee and Don Trenhaile; and nephew, Kim Bailey. A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014.
