Jim Murphy, 56, Oconto Falls, died Saturday night, Nov. 30, 2013, of apparent cardiac arrest at a Green Bay hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Oconto Falls to Howard and Gloria (Lewis) Murphy.
Jim grew up in the town of Morgan where he attended Oconto Falls Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1975. He lived most of his life in the Suamico area, where he worked the counter at various businesses relating to auto parts. He had a gift of gab and could converse with anyone, especially over a cold beer if it related to Harley Davidson motorcycles or any of the numerous places or people he knew. Jim will be fondly remembered as an avid reader and deer hunter, especially with his late brother, Roger. Always a dreamer, Jim will be remembered for coming up with an idea that could lead to instant prosperity.
Survivors are his mother, Gloria Murphy, Morgan; one sister, Jackie Super, Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Shirley Murphy, Kelly Lake; two nieces and one nephew, Jolene (Jeff) Truckenbrod, Sobieski, Ryan and Danielle Super, Green Bay; two great-nieces, Jena and Julie Truckenbrod; two special friends, Karla and “Big Jim,” Abrams.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, on Aug. 2, 2009, and one brother, Roger, on Dec. 11, 2008.
Visitation with the urn present will be held after 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
