Vian Carol (Long) Kersten, 90, of Wittenberg, died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at House of the Dove in Marshfield.
Vian was born on July 22, 1934, in the Town of Almon, the daughter of Harold and Adeline (Zeinert) Long.
On Oct. 1, 1955, Vian was united in marriage to Milan Kersten in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2014.
Vian was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was on the altar guild for many years. She was also a member of the Wittenberg American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years. Vian was a food service worker for 26 years at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School until her retirement in June 1997.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Vian loved flowers, playing canasta and listening to big band and polka music. Family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with them.
Vian is survived by two sons, Tom (Karen) Kersten of Eland and Tim (Dawn) Kersten of Fremont; four grandchildren, Brian (Lindsey) Kersten of Mosinee, Stephanie (Mike) Maciejewski of Abrams, Kyle (Haley) Kersten of Fremont and Travis (Christina) Kersten of Mosinee; eight great-grandchildren, August and Archie Kersten, Annabelle, Emilie and William Maciejewski, Henley and Holdyn Kersten and Cody Kersten; sister-in-law, Dianne Long; and other relatives and friends.
Vian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Arletta Crowell; brother, James Long; in-laws, Allen and Rolland Kersten and Ardell Lex and Vernetta Kersten.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Lay minister Peter Krolow will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
