Dorothy A. Sorensen, 80, of Gillett, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022. Dorothy was born on Dec. 27, 1941 to the late Oscar and Catherine (Kurek) Sorensen. She graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1960. After high school, Dorothy began working as a secretary at the Green Bay Correctional Institution, which she retired from in 2000.
Dorothy spent her retirement lovingly caring for her brother, Jimmy. She was a very involved member of St. John Catholic Church in Gillett. Dorothy loved playing solitaire and other card games. She greatly enjoyed spending time and having dinner with her family. She enjoyed the many birthday parties with her nieces and nephews. Dorothy was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed watching the games on television.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Joe (Julie) Moreau; four siblings, Ronald (Janice) Sorensen, Darlene Hodny, James “Jimmy” Sorensen, and Carol (Daniel) Brown; three grandchildren, Morgan, Ryan and Jacey. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Laddie J. Hodny; special friend, Virgil Schoen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 with the Rev. Francis Dias officiating. She will be interred at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
