Betty Jean Forrest

Betty Jean Forrest, 92, of Mountain, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. Jean was born March 25, 1930, to the late Elijah and Esther (Cable) Spencer. Jean married Leslie Forrest on Dec. 28, 1946. Jean and Les enjoyed 49 years sharing their lives together. In her early years, Jean was an avid bowler, golfer, camper and snowmobiler. She thoroughly enjoyed the Canadian camping and fishing trips with her husband, Les. In her later years, she spent time at the community center exercising with the group Walkie Talkies and playing dominoes with her friends. She was active at Tabor Lutheran Church, the Mountain Historical Society and a life member of Mountain VFW Auxiliary 2119. She was a lifelong Packers fan. Jean was a member of Port Charlotte Moose Lodge 2121, Port Charlotte Eagles Arie Auxiliary 3296 and Widower member of Punta Gorda Elks Lodge 2606. Her most avid hobby throughout her life was enjoying social time with friends and family. Jean was the classic “snowbird” spending summers in Mountain and winters at her beloved home in Charlotte Harbor, Florida. Jean is survived by her son, Bill (Peggy) Forrest; daughters-in-law, Jenny Forrest and Deb Forrest; seven grandchildren, Lesley, Gina, Jamie, Amanda, Dawn, Clara and Chad; four special step-grandchildren, Todd, Tony, Tracy and Stephie; seven great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Glenn Spencer, and sister, Dolly Yashinski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; sons, Robert (Bob) and Michael (Mike). She was further preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law. A celebration of life will be held for Jean in the spring. Jean will be interred at Mountain Cemetery next to her husband. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
