Mark A. Blood

Staff Sergeant (ret.) Mark Allen Blood, 55, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home in Hinesville, Georgia. Mark was born May 21, 1966, to his parents, Gary and Dolores Blood from Birnamwood. Mark was a graduate of Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School Class of 1984. Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was active duty for four years before getting out and rejoining with the National Guard/MATES. Stationed at Fort Stewart, he retired after serving for 22 years. After retirement, Mark worked at Walmart for 1½ years in the TLF Department. Mark was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle. He was a loyal friend and loved by many. Mark loved his family, he especially loved being a papa. Mark was a good person with a kind heart. He was always friendly and he never met a stranger. Mark was the type of person who didn’t know how to say no, the word was just not in his vocabulary. He was always willing to help out if someone was in need. How do you fit a life cut too short into a few paragraphs? Mark took great pride in being a hunting mentor to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed hunting and fishing with both his Georgia and Wisconsin families. He especially enjoyed taking his grandsons out fishing. Surprising his Wisconsin family with home visits was always a feat he enjoyed pulling off. He loved fixing and building things from baby cribs to desks. No matter the task it would get done. Mark is survived by his parents, Gary and Dolores Blood; sister, Kim (Jeff) Johanning; brother, Scott (Carla) Blood; wife, Henrietta Garrison-Blood; son, Jason (Jessica) Walling, grandchildren, Brendon, Austin, Stacy, Zane, Maddox; daughter, Cassie Garrison (special friend Curtis Rackley); daughter, Shawna (David) Linderman, grandchildren, Zachary, Mason; uncle, Jerica (Shawn) Kosky; Kade Johanning; great-uncle, Emmalyn and Raelyne Kosky; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held Aug. 14 at the Norrie Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the Darling Gunderson American Legion Post 341.
