Carol Ann Nygaard, 75, of Pulcifer, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, in Wauwatosa.
Carol was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Oconto Falls to the late Robert “Boots” and Lucille (Uecker) Thompson. On July 6, 1991, she was united in marriage to Peter “Pete” Nygaard in Gillett. The couple spent a wonderful 34 years together before Pete’s passing in 2025.
In Carol’s free time, she enjoyed crafting, singing, playing cards and board games. She was a selfless woman who was supportive, patient, caring and loving, and her hugs could make anyone feel at home. Carol’s grandchildren were her world, and you could find her supporting them at their many activities. She was an amazing cook, and you never left hungry.
Carol was very active at Faith United Church in Gillett, helping with funerals and services. She was a brave and courageous woman who fought through many challenges, who always put others before herself and showed her love by offering a kind ear and a loving word.
Carol was a wonderful mother, nana, aunt, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Carol is survived by her children, Traci (Scott Paris) Nygaard, Carl (Kathy) Huff and Brandon (Rose) Nygaard; grandchildren, Tristan Huff, Annabella Huff, Maverick Nygaard and Astrid Nygaard; siblings, Duane (Mary Jo) Thompson, Lynn Thompson, Janet (Lorne) Thurier and Julie (Dallas) Hoerres; nieces and nephews, Matt (Siobhan) Rung, Tiffany Hoerres, Derek (Markus) Hoerres and Emily (Robert) Newby; and former husband, James Huff.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Pete; sister, Peggy Thompson; parents, Robert and Lucille; and beloved aunts and uncles.
A memorial service for Carol will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 17, 2025, at Faith United Church in Gillett with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be held at Wanderers Rest Cemetery at a later date.
