The Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team improved to 5-0 with an 8-0 shutout over USM Wildcats on Dec. 6.
Addison Dahl and Hannah Von Haden each scored two goals, while Faye Brunke connected on one goal and had three assists.
Elizabeth Zunker started the scoring at 11:30 in the first period with assist from Dahl and Aisling Buchan.
In the second period, Dahl scored at 14:24 with help from Brunke and Mya Sheppard. At 16:59, Von Haden made in 3-0 with help from Brunke and Zunker.
The Ice Bears blew the game open in the third period with five more goals.
Buchan assisted Von Haden at 2:31, and Brunke had an unassisted goal at 3:50. Immediately thereafter Ava McDonald scored what assists from Eva Streckenbach and Abby Mommaerts. McDonald and Brunke assisted on Dahl’s second goal at 9:54, and Piper Losey scored the final goal at 15:59, with assists from Elliana Memken and Buchan.
The Wildcats’ Maggie Johnson had 22 saves, while Bay Area’s Reese Spiering had 10.
The Wildcats had one penalty for two minutes. Bay Area had three penalties for six minutes.
