Hildegard F. Peuschel (nee Deede), of Mequon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, at the Harrison Home in Cedarburg, at the age of 88.
Hildegard was born on April 25, 1925, in Suring to Louis and Sentha Deede. On Oct. 22, 1949, Hildegard was united in marriage to Walter Peuschel, whom she was happily married to for 55 years until Walter passed away in 2005. Together they took great pride in their farm in Mequon, and Hildegard will always be remembered for the beautiful pink petunias and multi-colored zinnias that outlined their garden.
Happiness for Hildegard came from spending time with her family, being a faithful member of Cavalry Ev. Lutheran Church, maintaining a picture-perfect garden, working on the “Pumpkin Patch,” polka dancing, lively games of Sheepshead and enjoying the simple things in life such as watching a cardinal on her birdfeeder or having her cat snuggled on her lap in her rocking chair while she listened to the Hartford radio station, WTKM. Throughout the years, Hildegard was also blessed with many good friends who always kept in touch with a visit, a call or a card.
Survivors include her three daughters, Carol (Ron) Ernst, Sandy (Rick) Haendel and Judy (Bob) Guse; grandchildren, MeLissa (Mike) Wieting, Scott (Tracy) Ernst and Brenda (Steve) Schieble; great-grandchildren, Faith, Emma, Brett and Brody Wieting, Natalie and Eli Ernst, and Ashlyn Schieble. She is further survived by step-grandchildren Jamie, Jackie and Brett Haendel, Ling (Matt) Byers, other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, 247 S. Main St., Thiensville, with the Rev. Don Scheuerlein presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Private interment will be at Opitz Cemetery in Mequon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hildegard’s name may be directed to Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School or a charity of your choice.
