The Gillett community will celebrate the season with Christmas in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Sponsored by the Gillett Business Association, the event includes activities at Zippel Park from 1-4 p.m. and a parade on Main Street at 4:30 p.m., immediately followed by a tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks display.
Activities in the expo building of Zippel Park include a bake sale, cake walk and craft sale. Individuals interested in selling their crafts may call Irene Drake at 920-598-0074.
The Gillett Library staff will provide children’s activities, including Snowminton and the annual Jingle Bell Skate. Kids are encouraged to bring their own roller skates.
Food will be available for purchase.
Hints for the eighth annual holiday wreath hunt will be distributed at Christmas in the Park. Families will have until the end of December to visit area businesses and complete the hunt. Prizes will be donated by Gillett area businesses.
The parade will start at 4:30 p.m. at the east end of Main Street by the Flower Shoppe, continue west along Main Street and end at the park for a lighting ceremony and fireworks. To register for the parade, contact Adam Ascher at 920-655-3251.
Christmas in the Park coincides with a Christmas tea and historic home tour sponsored by the Gillett Area Historical Society. Dainty sandwiches, desserts, wassail, coffee and tea will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. John’s Catholic Church, 127 Garden St.
Trees of the world will be on display at the GAHS museum, 110 W. Main St., and two nearby homes will be open for tours: the Korotev-Rickaby house at 133 S. Birch St. and Sohr-Smith house at 129 W. Main St.
Tickets for the tea and tour are $7 in advance or $8 at the door and can be purchased at The Cracked Cup, 127 E. Main St., Gillett, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or from GAHS members.
