Farmers market board sets annual meeting

The Shawano Farmers Market will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the back room of Angie’s Cafe, 132 S. Main St., in Shawano. The public is invited to learn about the market’s new location and what both vendors and the public can expect when the market opens on June 21. The market is moving to Franklin Park, the grounds of the old Franklin Middle School at the corner of Division and Washington streets in Shawano. “We have a new location and new board structure, and we are looking forward to sharing details at our upcoming annual meeting, “ said Dick Sarnwick, Shawano Farmers Market Board president. The Shawano Farmers Market Board is an independent nonprofit group that manages the overall direction and fundraising activities for the market. The board recently announced that it again hired Nathan Falk as market manager. The farmers market features locally produced vegetables, fruits, meat and fish, homemade food products and a small number of locally produced crafts. The market also offers a booth for nonprofit groups, information from Master Gardeners and music. “We are looking forward to our new location and the kind of park-like experience that the public will find,” Sarnwick said. “We will work closely with our vendors to make sure they we meet their needs while creating a new market in the park for Shawano.” Vendors who cannot attend the meeting are invited to contact Falk at shawanofarmmarket@gmail.com.
