Ethel Ruth Dorn, 93, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Neenah. Born on Jan. 9, 1921, in Clintonville, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Bahrke) Elbe.
On June 5, 1942, Ethel was united in marriage to Raymond H. Dorn in Tacoma, Wash. After marriage the couple made their home Geneseo, Ill., and Wausau before moving to Shawano in 1972. Ethel was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, where she was active with the Altar Guild and Anna Circle. She was also a lifelong member and first commander of the D.A.V and was a member of the Shawano V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Ethel is survived by two sons, John (Shirley) Dorn, of Allen, Texas, and James (Julie) Dorn, of Pulaski; a son-in-law, Kem Jackson, of Geneseo, Ill.; six grandchildren, Korby (Priscilla) Jackson, Karla (Scott) Graham, Brian (Sarah) Dorn, Kimberly Dorn, Stephanie (Justin) Smith and Kelsie Dorn; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Jackson, Bailey Jackson, Abgail Dorn; and a sister-in-law, Carole, and her husband , Jerry, of Neenah.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on Dec. 17, 2010; a daughter, Judith Jackson; a grandson, Kraig Jackson; her parents; three brothers, Kenneth (OraBelle) Elbe, Emory Elbe and Harold Elbe; and a sister, Gertrude Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Gisele Berninghaus and the Rev. Wayne Schwanke officiating. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park in Green Bay. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service.
