Elementary school selects artists of the year

Artists of the Year have been chosen at Oconto Falls Elementary School. This award honors one art student from each of these categories: kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, and fourth and fifth grade. The selection is made by the faculty at the school. Two-dimensional artwork from the 2012-2013 school year was put on display, and the faculty voted for the piece of art that best displayed skill over media, creativity and superior craftsmanship. This year’s winners are Josie Mills’ “Scratch Art Bird,” Emmie Magnin’s “Impressionistic Flowers” and Shelbee Woods’ “Pop Art Self Portrait.” The pictures have been professionally matted and framed and are hanging on permanent display. P.I.E. donated the money necessary for this display. The community is invited to visit the school to admire the artists’ work, which joined other Artists of the Year pieces.
