Donald ‘Don’ Hengel

Donald “Don” Hengel, 93, went home to his Lord on Feb. 17, 2014, in De Pere. He was born on March 5, 1920, to the late Matthew and Emma (Anderson) Hengel in Denmark. Don married Anne King on Jan. 20, 1940, in Denmark. They farmed the family farm in Denmark until 1971 and then moved to Mountain, and wintered in Bonita Springs, Fla. Don was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and hunt. Don and Anne loved to travel and visited almost every state. Don also was a partner in Howard Immel Construction, Green Bay, and worked as a supervisor until retiring in 1982. He was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Bonita Springs, Fla. Survivors include two sons, David (Sylvia) Hengel, Bonita Springs, Fla., and Roger (Darlene) Hengel, Two Rivers; one daughter, Linda (Richard) Hanson, Suring; one sister, Laverne White, Menasha. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, on March 28, 2007, and one sister, Lucille Krueger. A memorial service for both Donald and Anne Hengel will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Suring, at a later date. Memorial contributions are welcome at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Bonita Springs, Fla. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Rennes Health Center for the loving care given to Don for the past seven years.
