Clifford G. Marshall, 78, Lakewood, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Clifford was born in Wabeno to the late G. Clifford and Erna (Jossie) Marshall on May 31, 1935. Cliff married Jean Johnvin on Sept. 13, 1958, at Tabor Lutheran Church in Mountain. Two weeks after their marriage Cliff was drafted into the U.S. Army, and two years later he was honorably discharged.
Cliff established Marshall Excavating in 1965, and his health forced him to retire in 2004. Cliff served as town chairman of Lakewood Township for 10 years. He was a supervisor for Oconto County for 12 years, president of the Paul Bunyan Snowmobile Club for 18 years, member of the Lakewood Mardi Gras Association for 18 years, member of the American Legion Post No. 44, and he ran the Paul Bunyan Ski Hill for many years.
Cliff played in a grandfathers golf tournament and won the first-place trophy in 1994. Cliff served on the church boards for both Tabor Lutheran Church and St. John Lutheran Church; he held various positions in both churches.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Jean, of Lakewood; his son, Kevin C. (Jill) Marshall, of Lakewood; two daughters, Nadene (John) Stegall, of Lakewood, and Shirley (Dennis) Soulier, of Lakewood; 10 grandchildren, Kendall (Luke), Martell, Dustin (Nicole), Kayla, Brittney (Justin), Leah, Nicholas (fiancé Holly); five great-grandchildren, Jake, Braylon, Isaiah, Owen, Matthew and one due in April; stepsister-in-law, Lola Kuhn, of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Audrey (Joe) Fonferek, of Suring. Cliff is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, J.C. Stegall; his stepmother, Laura; two stepbrothers, George and Wally, and his stepsister-in-law, Bonnie.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at St. John Lutheran Church in Townsend. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Steve Mueller officiating. Cliff will be laid to rest in Lakewood Forest Cemetery.
