Outstanding volunteers are again being recognized and honored for their work through Shawano’s Celebration of Giving, presented by the Shawano Area Community Foundation (SACF) and NEW Media.
This will be the 12th year the Celebration of Giving recognizes the spirit of volunteerism in Shawano County.
Area residents are asked to nominate individuals and/or groups who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service to the community. Five of the nominees will be selected by a committee to receive $1,000 to donate to an area nonprofit of his or her choice.
“The $1,000 donation is only one facet of the Celebration of Giving,” said Raquel Strayer, SACF board chairwoman. “As Willie Nelson once said, ‘When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.’ Ask any volunteer and they will tell you how helping others is a blessing that fills the heart. We are lucky to have a strong network of volunteers who are the unsung heroes behind the scenes in our community. Every day, volunteers make a difference in the life of someone.”
Nominations must be made no later than March 1. Nominees must reside in Shawano County. Nominations are being accepted in five categories:
