Carol Burns, 91, Oconto Falls, died Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, at The Cottages. She was born April 28, 1934, in Berlin to Clifford and Anna (Weiland) Young. Carol graduated Berlin High School and received her Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin-Stout. As a dedicated teacher who loved her students, Carol taught family and consumer education in Sheboygan High School and Hartford Middle School before retiring from Wabeno High School in 1998.
On Nov. 9, 2002, she married Leonard K. Burns at Grace Lutheran Church where she was a longtime member and participated in Bible studies. She also was a member of the Oconto County Homemakers, the Wisconsin and Nicolet-Oconto Retired Teachers Associations, the Oconto Falls Lioness Club and the Wisconsin and National Education Associations.
Survivors are her husband, Leonard Burns; her three children, Judy Lenhardt, Jane (Eric) Scott and Scott (Diana) Lenhardt; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; Leonard’s family members, Paul (Janet) Burns and Kim Kujawski, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lyle Young, and stepson, Timothy Burns.
Visitation with the urn present will be held 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Gary Olson and granddaughter Elizabeth Lee officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Berlin, at a later date.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be to a food pantry of the donor’s choice.
