Beverly Yvonne White, 78, of Keshena, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Sept. 16, 1935, in the town of Red Springs, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Thelma (Davids) Putnam.
On Feb. 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Erwin White on the Stockbridge Indian Reservation. Beverly worked as a teacher at Oshkosh High School and Menominee Indian High School for 38 years before retiring. She was also active with Habitat for Humanity. Beverly was a member of the Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening, playing Scrabble, cooking and 4-wheeling.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Erwin; daughter, Sherry White, of Keshena; two granddaughters, Jamie (Gerald) Wayka, Angela (Anthony) Waupochick Jr.; six great-grandchildren, David (Lorraine) Waupoose, Kayshia Wayka, Leander Moon, Senihseah Wayka, Sasanehseah Shawanokasic, Saswaen Shawanokasic; and two great-great-grandchildren, Chase Waupoose and Serenity Robinson. Beverly is further survived by two brothers, Joseph (Rosie) Putnam, Allen (Karen) Washinawatok; and seven sisters, Betty Schiel, Pauline McCartan, Alice Marie (John Jack) Demjen, Judy (Ralph) Hartley, Cally (Mike) King, Georgia (Robert) Burr and Dar White.
Beverly was preceded in death by her son, Arlyn White; her parents; three sisters, Ramona Harder, Beryl Schwab, Virginia Putnam; and four brothers-in-law, Doug Schiel, John McCartan, Gene Harder and Daniel White.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at the Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church in Morgan Siding with the Rev. Karl Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Red Springs Cemetery in the town of Red Springs. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
