Members of the Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee approved conditional use permits for an animal rescue operation and a mini warehouse project when they gathered Sept. 3.
Following public hearings on the issues, county supervisors approved the requests with minimal discussion.
Steven Shur requested a conditional use permit for the nonprofit animal rescue business at N6561 Cheese Factory Road in the Town of Washington.
According to his application, Shur expects to care for up to 50 cats and 10 dogs at a time. Five to 10 customers are expected daily, as the operation will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.
Animals would be housed in two buildings, and there is an enclosed animal exercise area.
Cole Yach’s request was for a conditional use permit to build a personal storage facility and a mini warehouse building at N11016 U.S. Highway 45 in the Town of Aniwa.
According to his application, Yach, of Ringle, will personally use the heated storage building while renting out the mini warehouse storage units.
The only signage will be on the sides of the buildings, and the buildings will also have lighting on the exterior.
About two or three customers are expected daily.
