Allan E. Moede, 80, Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014. He was born on Oct. 8, 1933, in Shawano, the son of Edwin and Fried (Prey) Moede.
Al was a graduate of Shawano High School with the Class of 1951. Al served his country in the United States Army stationed in Japan and was part of the Army band from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Upon his return from Japan, he met and married Nancy Klitzke on Feb. 16, 1957, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Together they had three wonderful children, Scott, Mark and Lisa.
Al had a successful career in real estate for over 45 years in the Green Bay area. He had many interests in life, but his greatest passion outside of his family was his love of playing his saxophone. Al enjoyed music and played in various dance bands in the Shawano and Green Bay area. He also played in the Allouez Village Band, Howard Community Band and the Green Bay Shrine Band. Al was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and sang in the church choir, as well as ushered. He was a member of the Allouez Kiwanis Club for more than 40 years.
Al is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Scott and Michelle Moede, Parker, Colo., and Mark Moede, San Diego, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Manny Stagakis, Germantown; five grandchildren, Lauren and Marina Stagakis, McKenna Moede, twins Kendall and Kyla Moede; one sister, Delores Schmidt, Rhinelander; and a nephew, Craig Schmidt, Green Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Harold Schmidt.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 9-11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joshua Errer officiating.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Faith Lutheran or the Allouez Village Band.
