Tourism director recognized for her community service

Samantha Routheau, tourism director for the Tourism and Economic Development Corporation of the Oconto Region (TEDCOR), is the the 2024 recipient of the Harold P. Heckendorf Community Service Award presented by NEW Credit Union.

TEDCOR is the new name of the former Oconto County Economic Development Corp.

Routheau accepted the award from NEW Credit Union’s President Lisa Gilligan at the financial institution’s 62nd annual membership meeting. She also received a $250 check, and the charity of her choice, the Winter Wonderland in Oconto, will also receive a check of $250.

Oconto County future seen as bright

The chief economist for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue told a gathering of Oconto County business and government leaders Feb. 5 that the state of Wisconsin has shown “remarkable resilience in a challenging economy.”

John Koskinen was the keynote speaker at the annual Economic Outlook Breakfast hosted by the newly rebranded Tourism and Economic Development Corp. of the Oconto Region (TEDCOR). The nonprofit formerly known as the Oconto County Economic Development Corp. held this year’s event at Oconto Falls High School.
