Shawano boys 1st, girls 2nd at Bay quad

The Shawano boys scored 69⅓ points to place first at a Bay Conference quad on May 2 in Appleton. The Shawano girls tallied 71½ points and took second behind Xavier (90).

The Bonduel High School softball team has hopes of winning the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division title for a second consecutive year. Senior Nakiyah Henning hopes to help lead the Bears to that goal and many more.

After making the CWC-East second team last season, Henning is off to a strong start to this season.

Henning homered and drove in five runs in the team’s win over Menominee Indian on April 27. She posted three hits and earned the win in the circle in a victory over Iola-Scandinavia on April 24.

Marion 14

Wild Rose 0 (5 inn.)

Marion improved to 9-1 this spring after a lopsided Central Wisconsin Conference crossover win over Wild Rose on April 28 in Marion.

Ryan Malueg earned the win on the mound after striking out six batters across four innings. Jay Brei pitched the final inning.

Oconto Falls 7

Clintonville 1

Oconto Falls topped Clintonville in a North Eastern Conference clash on April 27 in Oconto Falls.

Madeline Maloney homered among her two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice to lead Oconto Falls at the plate. Ashlyn Allen had three hits and two runs scored, while Randi Metzler had two hits and two RBIs. Keira Cole also tallied two hits.

BOYS GOLF

Bonduel wins 1st CWC meet

Bonduel turned in a team score of 353 to take first at a Central Wisconsin Conference meet on April 25 at Shamrock Heights Golf Course in New London.

Jake Dreyer led Bonduel with an 18-hole round of 83, which also tied him for medalist honors.

Jaxon Bogacz fired a round of 86 for the Bears. Colin Fischer tallied a 91, Reed Luepke a 93 and Sam Wolf a 114 to cap the five-golfer team.

SOFTBALL

Bonduel 8

Iola-Scandinavia 2

Bonduel pulled away late for a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division win over Iola-Scandinavia on April 24 in Bonduel.

Abby Stoltenow drove in two runs on a single in the sixth inning to give Bonduel a 4-2 lead. Hailee Thompson homered to spark a four-run seventh for the Bears.

Nakiyah Henning led Bonduel with three hits, while Audrey Weier and Thompson had two each.

Hawks come up short in softball doubleheader

The Shawano Community High School softball team dropped a pair of Bay Conference games to Menasha during a doubleheader on April 22 in Shawano.

Shawano dropped game one 10-5 and game two 7-3 on a cold day where snow and sleet pelted players throughout.

Marion knocked off Elcho in a nonconference matchup on April 22 in Elcho.

Jay Brei drove in three runs to lead Marion at the plate. Andy Faehling drove in a pair of runs, while Jaden Stuhr scored three times and stole three bases. Ryan Malueg scored two runs.

Bonduel 1st at Whistling Straits

Bonduel posted a team score of 368 to win an invitational on April 21 at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan.

Jake Dreyer led the Bears with an 18-hole round of 88, while Charlie Tauchen carded an 89.

Colin Margelofsky fired a round of 93 for Bonduel. Reed Luepke tallied a 98, while Noah Weier had a 101.

Oconto Falls softball team outlasts Wrightstown in thriller

The Oconto Falls High School softball team prevailed in a North Eastern Conference battle with Wrightstown on April 18 in Oconto Falls.

Amelia Danielczak drove in Madeline Maloney in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Oconto Falls a 5-4 win.

Maloney doubled to open the 11th before moving to third on a single from Kyndra Staidl. Danielczak wasted no time when she got to the plate, taking a rip at the first pitch.
