BASEBALL

Bonduel sweeps Pacelli

Bonduel earned 4-3 and 5-2 wins over Pacelli in a doubleheader on May 13 in Bonduel.

In the first game, Cade Johnson earned the win on the mound for the Bears, striking out four batters over 3⅓ innings. Colin Margelofsky got the final out to pick up the save. Noah Weier clubbed a two-run home to spark a four-run fifth innings for the hosts.

BOYS GOLF

Lena takes 2nd at invitational

Lena posted a team score of 343 to place second at the Crivitz Invitational on May 12 at Hunter's Glen Golf Club in Crivitz. Laona/Wabeno won the invitational with a 336.

Braden McVane posted an 18-hole round of 76 to lead Lena on the course.

Mason Belongia fired an 84, while Mason Spice tallied an 88. Drake Dionne (95) and Vance Turecek (97) capped the five-golfer team.

Gillett finishes 8th in Crivitz

Bonduel 2

Shiocton 1

Bonduel scored a pair of seventh-inning runs to top Shiocton in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division battle on May 11 in Bonduel.

Easton Reinke doubled home Colin Margelofsky to tie the game. An errant throw later on allowed Reinke to score the game-winning run.

Noah Weier started on the mound and struck out five batters while allowing just one run over 6⅔ innings.

BOYS GOLF

Trio paces Pulaski at FRCC meet

Connor Burant, Dylan Carley and Dixon Holewinski turned in rounds of 42 to lead Pulaski at a Fox River Classic Conference meet on May 10 at Ledgeview Golf Course in De Pere.

Pulaski had a team score of 170 to place sixth as a team.

Brady Hayward tallied a round of 44, while Colin Schultz posted a 45 for the Red Raiders.

Athlete Profile: Jami Wendler

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School softball team is under the direction of a new coach this spring. Change, especially during senior seasons, isn’t always easy for seniors to accommodate, but Jami Wendler is relishing the chance to lead the Chargers during their new era.

Wendler was a second-team all-conference finisher in her junior season, when Witt-Birn went just 2-12 in conference play. As of May 7, Wendler had helped the team to three conference wins already.

Green Bay West 1

Shawano knocked off Green Bay West in a Bay Conference clash on May 9 in Green Bay.

All three of Shawano’s doubles teams won, along with three of the four singles players.

Gillett/Suring won 11-6 and 18-17 Marinette & Oconto Conference games over St. Thomas Aquinas Academy/Lena on May 8 in Marinette.

BASEBALL

Pulaski drops pair of FRCC games

Pulaski lost 3-1 and 5-1 to Manitowoc Lincoln in a Fox River Classic Conference doubleheader on May 6 in Manitowoc.

In the 3-1 loss, Pulaski's Jacob McDonald drove in Kyle Olson for the team's lone run. Logan Brabant took the loss on the mound after pitching all six innings, with just one earned run against him.

Lincoln Simons plated Brabant for the team's only run in game two. Simons took the loss on the hill after pitching five innings. Michael Wyent tossed two frames.

2 Shawano records broken at invitational

A pair of Shawano girls school records were broken during the Freedom Irish Invitational on May 5 in Freedom. The girls team ended up scoring 98 points to place second, while the boys took fifth with 56 points.

Lily Guenther set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run after placing first in 11 minutes, 48.02 seconds. Grace Chelberg completed the 1,600 in 5:20.75 to place second and set another school record.

Wausaukee 1

Gillett/Suring fended off Wausaukee in a Marinette & Oconto Conference battle on May 4 in Gillett.

Autumn Dryja earned the win in the circle, striking out four batters and allowing just one unearned run.

Emma Kristof, Claire Pommerich and Dryja scored the team's three runs.

Amherst 3
