Twenty-eight seniors walked across the stage May 22 at the annual Lena High School graduation ceremony.

“Being part of this school is truly special,” said Ben Pytleski, district administrator. “It always amazes me how many quality and successful people this school and community produces.”

Bonduel grads encouraged to live life to the fullest

The spirit of a little sister watched over the Bonduel High School graduation on May 24.

Chloe Zernicke, an eighth-grader at St. Paul Lutheran School in Bonduel, lost her life in an ATV accident May 15. Nine days later, her sister, Hailey, graduated as salutatorian with the class of 2024.

Hailey Zernicke said in her salutatorian speech that success is defined by the positive impact we have on others.

Books, theater themes in WBHS graduation

Almost 75 graduates from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School transitioned to their next chapter of life May 24 with their top classmates showering them with images of books and a touch of the theater.

Amelia Bessert, a summa cum laude graduate, admitted she was a bookworm after flatly informing the audience that she’s only 4 feet, 10 inches and not getting any taller. She told her fellow graduates that there are many parallels between graduating high school and the attributes of a good book.

Members of the Oconto Falls High School Class of 2024 shared sweet memories and optimistic dreams of the future as they gathered for their graduation ceremony May 26.

Principal Stuart Russ told the grads that he felt a surge of pride watching them enter the gym.

“You stand here not just as graduates but as testaments to perseverance, resilience, and the search for knowledge that have seen you through these past four years,” Russ said.

Shawano grads encouraged to ‘win the week’

Those in attendance at the 144th commencement ceremony at Shawano Community High School on May 24 were treated to a class that featured eight co-valedictorians.

Each of them shared a message with their classmates, family, friends and faculty in attendance. One of those co-valedictorians, Onna Hermann, talked about resilience — the recovery from setbacks, adapting to change and moving forward.

“The challenges you face will not define you,” she said. “It’s how you respond to them that will.”

Hermann’s mother died in 2022.

Gillett grads choose poison ivy as class flower

Members of the Gillett High School class of 2024 have lived through a lot — and salutatorian Ben Matczak reminded them of that at their May 26 graduation ceremony.

Matczak described each year of high school in a unique way.

Freshman year was the Great Depression due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of classes and activities.

“That year was kind of a bust for all of us,” he said.

Sophomore year was the Renaissance, when sports, clubs and activities resumed.

Over 80 students walked across the stage May 22 to get their diplomas during Menominee Nation High School’s graduation commencement at the Omaeqnomenewak Wetohkatikamek Center, many of them proud of a revived heritage that just a few decades ago was in danger of extinction.

WRLHS graduation focuses on close ties, Jesus

The small size of the Wolf River Lutheran High School Class of 2024 meant that each graduate could be given special attention during the private school’s May 17 commencement ceremony.

Nine seniors walked across the stage in the school gymnasium to accept their diplomas. Principal Shellie Kosmerchock had time to congratulate and share positive thoughts about each of them individually .
