“We may all want to get together at Thanksgiving and see our loved ones,” Dr. Stephen Phillipson said, expressing the desire of many people.

The Aspirus Wausau Hospital Director of Medicine then posed the question, “But how are you going to feel if you were the asymptomatic person who gave it to gramma and gramma is dead or she’s in an ICU or she’s sick for weeks and weeks and weeks on a ventilator? And that’s the reality of this illness.”

The Green Bay Packers placed RB AJ Dillon on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The transaction was announced Monday by Brian Gutekunst, the team's general manager.

Per agreed-upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list is for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

Lambeau Field to continue indefinite hold on hosting fans for game days

Due to the continued high levels of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the Green Bay area and across Wisconsin, the Green Bay Packers are continuing the indefinite hold on hosting fans for games at Lambeau Field this season.

In order to host fans, the area will need to see a significant improvement in the rate of hospitalizations, as well as in the community infection and positivity rates. This is based on recommendations from community health care and public health officials.

Packers' Dillon tests positive for coronavirus

The Green Bay Packers reported Monday that a player has tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to multiple reports, that player is running back AJ Dillon, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Packers officials said all player meetings Monday would be conducted virtually. The player who tested positive has self-quarantined.

This marks the first time a Packers player has tested positive during the season. Green Bay (5-2) has a short week before playing at San Francisco (4-4) on Thursday night.

Wisconsin football team has 22 positive COVID-19 cases

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says the total number of positive COVID-19 cases within the Badgers’ football program has increased to 22.

Alvarez told ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday that 12 football players and 10 staffers have tested positive. Alvarez said school officials would decide Tuesday whether to go ahead with the ninth-ranked Badgers' scheduled Sept. 7 home game with Purdue.

“We’re still having additions in our cases, and that’s something we’ve got to get our arms around and control it,” Alvarez said.

Wisconsin football pauses team activities

The Wisconsin football team will pause all team-related activities for at least seven days due to an elevated number of COVID-19 cases within the Badgers program.

The team’s scheduled game against Nebraska on Saturday will not be played.

The joint decision to pause football activities and cancel Saturday’s game was made by Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez and UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, in consultation with the Big Ten Conference. The game will not be rescheduled.

UW study: School sports don’t increase COVID-19 cases

A study conducted by the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health concluded participation in high school sports in Wisconsin has not led to an increase in COVID-19 infections among high school student-athletes.
