Witt-Birn, Oconto Falls boys golf teams fail to qualify for state

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Oconto Falls boys golf teams failed to qualify for state after competing in the Division 2 Wautoma Sectional on June 9 at Waushara Country Club in Wautoma.

Witt-Birn placed fifth as a team with a score of 339, while Oconto Falls placed 10th with a mark of 364. Marinette (313) and Xavier (319) qualified for state after placing first and second, respectively.

Nolan Fraaza and Ian Resch led Witt-Birn with rounds of 84. Maverick Beran tallied an 85, while Calvin Scheurer posted an 86. Brian Nelson (91) was the team’s other golfer.

Evan Jaeger led Oconto Falls on the course with a round of 80. He missed out on qualifying for state as an individual by two shots, with the three state qualifiers advancing after rounds of 75, 78 and 78.

Trevor Metzler (91), Caden Leonhardt (96), Thomas Carmondy (97) and Rease Hodkiewicz (108) rounded out Oconto Falls’ lineup.
