Witt-Birn boys golf team takes 2nd at invitational

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team placed second at the Whistling Straights Invite April 26 at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan.

Witt-Birn finished with a team score of 367, nine shots back of Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (358). Bonduel claimed seventh (431), while Menominee Indian/Gresham tied for eighth (480). Marion placed 10th at 486 shots.

Maverick Beran was Witt-Birn's top individual finisher, carding an 18-hole round of 86. Ian Resch fired an 89.

Brian Nelson carded a round of 95 for the Chargers, with Calvin Scheurer and Nolan Fraaza at 97 shots each.

Cooper Uelmen was Bonduel's top finisher after a round of 101, with Jake Dreyer at 105. Mason Moore (112), Reed Luepke (113) and Trey Vandenbrook (118) filled out the Bears' lineup.

Saswaen Shawanokasic put together a round of 115 to lead Menominee Indian/Gresham. Will Jensen fired a 119, Jake Hoffman a 120, Bryson Nelson a 126 and Jack Haffner a 131 to fill out the team.

Marion was led by Isaiah Gueths' round of 115, while Ellen Radies shot a 118. Quinn Tolan (121), Branden Beechy (132) and Andy Bodoh (141) were the Mustangs other three golfers.
