WASP swimmers compete at state meet
Audrey Wierzba and a Wittenberg Area Swim Program (WASP) medley relay team were among those participating in the 12 & Under Long Course Meter Summer State Championships at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer on July 26-28.
In the girls 11-12 category, Wierzba, 12, placed 30th in the 200-meter breaststroke in 3:25.58; 42nd in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:35.96; 51st in the 50-meter breaststroke in 44.27; and 56th in the 50-meter freestyle in 35.47.
The girls 11-12 400-meter medley relay team included Kaydence Crick (backstroke), Wierzba (breaststroke), Peyton Crick (butterfly) and Aislyn Sauter (freestyle). The team placed 22nd with a time of 6:11.18, which was 27.59 off their best time.
Head coach Brenna Opper took the team to state.
