SOFTBALL

Oconto Falls 4

Little Chute 3

Jayden Arndt drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Oconto Falls take down Little Chute in a North Eastern Conference clash May 6 in Oconto Falls. McKayla Goebel scored the game’s final run.

Ashlyn Allen, Jamesen Engel and Arndt scored Oconto Falls’ other runs in the contest. Goebel, Engel, Arndt, Lily Kurek and Sydney Bell had the team’s lone hits.

Kurek pitched all seven innings to earn the win in the circle. She struck out eight batters along the way.

BASEBALL

Lena/STAA 8

Gillett/Suring 0

Logan Shallow tossed a complete game shutout to help Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy to a Marinette & Oconto Conference victory over Gillett/Suring on May 6 in Marinette. Shallow struck out 17 batters while surrendering just one hit.

Josh Kristof led Lena/STAA at the plate with three hits, while Shallow and Ethan Russell had two each. Russell, Shallow and Logan Graef each scored twice.

Taron Haak recorded Gillett/Suring’s lone hit.

Freedom 10

Oconto Falls 1

Oconto Falls couldn’t shut down Freedom’s bats in the later innings of an eventual NEC loss May 6 in Freedom. The hosts scored six runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Braden Vandermoss finished with two hits for the Panthers in the losing effort. Oconto Falls had seven hits and drew two walks, but the team was only able to score once in the third inning.

Vandermoss took the loss on the mound after pitching 1 1/3 innings. Braden Uelmen started and allowed an unearned run in three innings. Jake Sager and Josh Temple also pitched for the Panthers.
