THANK YOU: Class provided info on preventing falls

To the editor:

The first-ever Age Well Without Falls class in Oconto County was a great success, thanks to the following partners: Oconto County Commission on Aging, for providing print materials and the facilitator; Serenity Gardens LLC in Gillett, for hosting the program; and Dawn Janiak, physical therapy assistant from The Bay of Suring, for her expertise in the area of fall prevention.

Many topics from A to Z were discussed in this three-week (two hours for one day a week) class for older adults. The participants learned from each other as well as the facilitator, myself who has been working to help prevent falls for the past 20-plus years. Comments from participants include: “We not only learned but also had fun with the group!” “I learned a lot and would take the class again,” and “I truly feel empowered to decrease my risk of falls.”
