Tennis season ends at sectionals for Shawano, Pulaski

Pulaski’s Ruth Krause and Shawano’s Rachael Carroll, as well as Pulaski’s doubles team of Sarah Johnson and Josie Steeno, advanced to sectional tennis action after a successful round of subsectional play the day before. However, all of them lost in the first round, bringing the season to a close for both teams.

In subsectional action Oct. 2 at Notre Dame, Krause defeated Shawano’s Adison Moesch. Pulaski’s Isabella Skalecki topped Shawano’s Ireland Setterman, then lost in semifinals to Notre Dame. Pulaski’s Ayla Groteluschen won over Ashwaubenon’s Sarah Beaudo, then lost to Notre Dame. Shawano’s Rachael Carroll shut out Green Bay Southwests Emerson Krings, then lost to Bay Port.

Pulaski’s Addison Keezen shut out Green Bay Preble’s Erin Krueger, then lost to Notre Dame, while Bay Port’s Callie Schuette defeated Shawano’s Brynlie Boyles.

In doubles play, Pulaski’s Sarah Johnson and Josie Steeno defeated Green Bay Southwest’s Gail Wery and Ella VandenHouten.

Bay Port’s Hannah Ernest and Mira Matuszewski beat Shawano’s Samantha Martzke and Natalee Jung.

Pulaski’s Hailey Jansen and Aubrie Schluessler won over Shawano’s Ashley Hanssen and Rylee Trochil, and Pulaski’s Alyssa Eggert and Linde Lemerond topped Green Bay Preble’s Lyliane Ho and Isabella Garcia.

Ashwaubenon’s Elly Kirst and Kaitlyn Hankermeyer won over Shawano’s Katie Weiland and Maddigan Bakeberg.
