Strive Behavioral Solutions is planning a move from its current location on County Road B to Engel Drive, behind the new dental clinic.

The Shawano Plan Commission offered its recommendation for approval Sept. 25 of a land transaction between Strive and the city. The building is expected to take up the 4.3 acres left on the parcel where the future Wolf River Dental Clinic is going.

Strive has two clinics, one in Shawano and the other in Schofield. The company provides behavioral analysis services, therapy and support for families.

According to City Administrator Eddie Sheppard, Strive would have a shared driveway with Wolf River Dental rather than build a whole new road.

“The building being proposed is about 12,000 square feet, quite a large buildout totaling $3 million,” Sheppard said.

The project was approved by the Shawano Industrial and Commercial Development Committee earlier this year, according to Sheppard, and Strive is expected to start work in spring 2025. The city usually charges $20,000 per acre, but that will be discounted depending on the amount of jobs created, he said.

“Those are the details being worked out in the development agreement,” Sheppard said.

The decision to not have a street came from its proximity to the apartment complex built by S.C. Swiderski. Sheppard said leaving the asphalt area as a parking lot allows the businesses more freedom with signage and landscaping.

“We are going to look at potentially putting a hydrant in further on the property for fire protection,” Sheppard said. “We still have some things to iron out.”
