Shoe collection for developing countries
The Gillett American Legion Auxiliary is collecting gently worn and new shoes for residents of developing countries, such as India and nations within Africa, South America and Europe. The goal is to collect 2,000 pairs of walking shoes by Oct. 13, including sandals, sneakers and athletic shoes; no high heels.
Collection sites are in Gillett at Gillett Public Library and Pat’s Market; in Oconto Falls at Iverson Piggly Wiggly, S&S Hometown Bar, Grace Lutheran Church, United Methodist Church and St. Anthony School; in Morgan at St. John’s Lutheran Church; in Oconto at the Bond Center, City Hall, Thompson’s County Market, Tractor Supply and several churches; in Sobieski at Maximilian Kolbe Parish; and in Stiles at St. Patrick’s Church and Jo Jo’s Diner.
