Drivers are advised to find alternatives as roadwork on the section of East Green Bay Street from Main Street to Waukechon Street is expected to last until the Monday before the Shawano County Fair, Scott Kroening, Shawano city director of public works, said.

Kroening suggested the newly re-opened Fifth Street as well as Lieg, Richmond and Elizabeth Streets as East-West alternatives during construction. Using Waukechon Street or Lincoln Street provide North-South choices.

Crews are rebuilding the railroad crossing on the street between Hamlin Street and Fairview Ave. as well as extensively rebuilding and upgrading sidewalks and street crossings along one of the city’s busiest streets.

There will be ongoing changes in lane closures and periodic crossing of construction equipment.
