Shawano soccer season ends

Rhinelander 3, Shawano 1

The Hawks traveled to Rhinelander full of confidence and ready to battle but came up short in a 3-1 loss in the regional game.

Rhinelander had an own goal off a shot from Maddie Moesch, and the Hawks led 1-0 until the last minute of the first half. The Hodags tied the game at 1-1 going into halftime.

Rhinelander put in two more goals in the second half to finish the game. Senior goalkeeper Brynlie Boyles had 16 saves for Shawano.

Coach Emily Stepanek notably thanked seniors Caitlyn Moede and Boyles, and foreign exchange student Laia Jimenez.

Shawano ended its season with a 6-15 mark.
