Shawano cross-country runners lead at Manawa
Shawano’s Will Chelberg finished in first place for the boys and three other boys and six girls grabbed top 10 finishes at the Manawa/Symco Invitational in Symco, hosted by Manawa High School, on Sept. 5.
Chelberg, a senior, finished in a time of 17:08.2. Fellow seniors and teammates Ethan Onesti placed second in 17:29.3 and Andon Chelberg was seventh in 19:07.6. Freshman Josiah Kuehl placed 10th in 19:28.3, and junior Trevor Schwartz was 13th in 19:59.2.
Shawano’s girls were paced by sophomore Bailey Hendricks’ second-place finish in 21:03.8. She was joined by senior Lilly Guenther in fourth in 21:17.2, senior Grace Chelberg in fifth in 21:56.2, sophomore Maci Beyer in sixth in 22:38.2 and junior Adalyn Barkley in seventh in 22:49.2.
Sophomore Anabelle Schroeder placed 10th in 24:08, and sophomore Teagan Powers was 14th in 26:24.7.
Also competing for the Shawano boys were junior Quinn Olson, 27th place, 21:41.1, and senior Connor Chelberg, 31st, 22:08.9.
Also in the boys competition, Menominee Indian freshman Ryan Corn was his team’s top finisher, placing 16th in 20:19.7. He was joined by junior Barron Waupoose, 18th, 20:27.7; senior Julius Kaquatosh, 23rd, 21:00.4; junior Francis Delabrau, 29th, 21:57; and senior Maech Corn 32nd, 22:35.9.
Also competing for the Eagles boys were sophomore Anikohsaeh Corn, 34th, 23:18, and freshman Tony Corn, 40th, 26:10.6.
On the girls side, Suring’s five runners helped the team to a fifth-place finish.
Sophomore Ginger Gerndt was 16th in 26:48.9, and senior Georgia Gerndt was 22nd in 28:21.8. Sophomore Allyson Seibert placed 28th in 30:13.3, senior Samantha Seibert was 31st in 31:39.3, and freshman Natalie Seibert placed 39th in 34:58.6.
