he Gillett School Board approved a unanimous motion to help fix a problem with the clocks and the electrical controller in the elementary school at their July 15 board meeting.

Clocks at Gillett Elementary School needed to be fixed after an electrical storm knocked out the controller and the clock system.

“We believe that the controller is fried,” Superintendent Todd Hencsik said.

Two different quotes were discussed from American Time on replacing the clocks, one for $2,747.85. This quote will be used as a test to work on fixing the clocks. If more work is needed to replace all of the clocks in the elementary school, the cost would be an additional $7,759.92.

“The recommendation is to approve the quote for us to not exceed $10,626.91 in both purchases if they are needed,” said Hencsik. “The hope is that the controller will just correct the issue, but we just need to get in there and see that.”

Board member Katie Daul said that if a new controller needs to be installed, that it would not be included in this price.

“Correct,” said Hencsik. “That would have to be done through an independent contractor.”

Hencisk said he and Elementary School Principal Curt Angeli will look into whether insurance will cover any of the costs.

“They are going to look into the insurance to see if they will find out if lightning did it,” said Board President Jaime Young. “I am not saying for sure that insurance will cover some, but we will look into it to see.”

Angeli assured the board and Hencsik that American Time had the part that would be needed to fix the controller.
