Salvation Army needs assistance with backpacks

Since 2021, the Salvation Army of Shawano County has been providing backpacks with school supplies to children in need.

Last year, more than 190 backpacks were given out to families at local schools. Due to funding shortages, the Shawano County Salvation Army Service Unit is currently in need of cash donations to purchase school supplies and backpacks for the 2024-25 school year. All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers are also needed to help pack backpacks and distribute them the same day. Packing and distribution takes place in August at the Fellman Center, 607 E. Elizabeth St., Shawano.

Registration forms are available through the Shawano County Human Services Department, W7327 Anderson Ave., Shawano; Forward Services, 607 E. Elizabeth St., Shawano; Safe Haven, 380 Lakeland Road, Shawano; Shawano Area Matthew 25, 105 E. Richmond St., Shawano; and Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center, 218 E. Richmond St., Shawano.
