Pulaski tennis team 1 win short of victory

Shawano’s Carroll collects 20th win of the season

Sept. 26

Sheboygan North 4, Pulaski 3

Pulaski’s No. 2 doubles team took their Sheboygan North opponents to three sets, and the No. 3 duo lost in a second set tiebreaker, and winning either of them would have given the Red Raiders the victory in the meet.

Instead, Sheboygan North won 4-3.

Winning for Pulaski were Ruth Krause at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0; Isabella Skalecki at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-1; and Anna Krause at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0.

The No. 2 singles player, Aubrie Schluessler, lost 6-2, 6-3.

At No. 1 doubles, Alyssa Eggert and Addison Heezen lost 6-0, 6-2.

Ayla Groteluschen and Linde Lemerond lost 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Hailey Jansen and Gretchen Rottier lost 6-3, 7-6 (5) at No. 3 doubles.

West De Pere 6, Shawano 1

The Hawks traveled to West DePere for Act 2 of a suspended match from two weeks ago, which was rained out.

The Hawks fell 6-1 to the second place Phantoms.

Rachael Carroll, at No. 2 singles, hit the magic number of 20 wins, with only two losses, as she defeated Grace Johnson 6-2, 6-2. This is the first player during the nine-year coach Matt Zoll era to reach 20 wins.

Carroll will have her sites set on more wins at the conference meet and at the WIAA tournament. Coming up short in singles matches were Ireland Setterman, Hadley Rettke and Madison Miller.

Doubles teams were Olivia Dobratz and Claire Weiland, Ava Hoffman and Jaelyn Hietpas, and Ruby Onesti and Chloe Gilling.
