Packers transactions (Nov. 22-28)

Packers release Redmond

The Green Bay Packers have released safety Will Redmond.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction on Nov. 22.

Redmond, a sixth-year player out of Mississippi State, played in 31 games with five starts during the regular season as well as four postseason contests since joining Green Bay in 2018.

Packers announce roster moves

The Packers signed guard Ben Braden from the practice squad to the active roster and placed guard Elgton Jenkins on injured reserve.

Gutekunst announced the transactions Nov. 23.

Braden originally joined the Packers in October 2020 and spent the season on the practice squad and active roster, playing in four games during the regular season and both postseason contests. He has been on Green Bay’s practice squad for all of the 2021 season, appearing in two games as a gameday elevation.

Green Bay makes more moves

The Packers signed guard/tackle Jon Dietzen to the practice squad and placed linebacker Jonathan Garvin on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Gutekunst announced the transactions on Nov. 24.

Dietzen (6-foot-5, 312 pounds) originally signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent back in May but was released during training camp.

He played in 42 games with 39 starts at the University of Wisconsin. In 2016-17, Dietzen played in 23 games with 20 starts at left guard and then in 2018 started all 12 games at left tackle. After retiring following the 2018 season due to injuries, he returned in 2020 and started all seven games (four at left guard, two at left tackle, one at right guard), playing the third most snaps (437) of any UW player.

Dietzen will wear No. 61 for the Packers.

Per agreed-upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list is for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

Pack signs Orchard

The Packers signed linebacker Nate Orchard to the practice squad and released running back Kerrith Whyte from the practice squad.

Gutekunst announced the transactions on Nov. 25.

Orchard, a 6-3, 250-pound, sixth-year player out of the University of Utah, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round (No. 51 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

After three seasons in Cleveland (2015-17), he spent time with the Buffalo Bills (2018), Kansas City Chiefs (2018), Seattle Seahawks (2019), Miami Dolphins (2019), the Washington Football Team (2019-20), Houston Texans (2020), Tennessee Titans (2020-21) and Minnesota Vikings (2021). Overall, Orchard has appeared in 46 games with 13 starts, recording 85 tackles (51 solo), six sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, 16 QB hits, an interception, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

He will wear No. 43 for the Packers.
