Offer made to county administrator candidate
Oconto County is apparently close to announcing its next county administrator, as Erik Pritzl marks his last day in office.
The county executive committee voted Feb. 1 to send an amended contract agreement to its recommended candidate, according to draft minutes posted online. The candidate has not yet been named publicly.
Pritzl’s last scheduled day as the second Oconto County administrator was Feb. 7. He begins his job Feb. 18 as director of Brown County Human Services, the position he held before taking the Oconto County post in January 2022. Kevin Hamann served two decades as the county’s administrative coordinator before the job was changed to county administrator in 2021.
The committee held three meetings Jan. 16-17 to interview and consider the candidates. Minutes of the Jan. 17 session indicate the committee voted to have human resources director Shelly Schultz do a background check and make an offer to its recommended candidate at an annual salary of $127.315.50.
Assuming the candidate accepts the offer, the full county board likely will be asked to ratify the appointment when it holds its regular monthly meeting Feb. 22. Finance director Lisa Sherman will be serving as interim county administrator until the new person arrives.
